What is DentalMonitoring?
DentalMonitoring is a groundbreaking remote monitoring system that allows Drs. Ross and Laura Pulver, our board certified orthodontists in Paso Robles and Atascadero, to accurately track the progress of their patients throughout the treatment process. With the DentalMonitoring app and ScanBox pro, you can now send in photos of your teeth and communicate with North County Orthodontics securely from your home — or anywhere.
This cutting-edge technology empowers patients with the ability to take regular scans of their teeth using a smartphone or tablet, eliminating the need for frequent in-person appointments. These scans are then securely shared with Drs. Ross and Laura Pulver for personalized analysis and treatment adjustments.
With the use of the AI-powered DentalMonitoring platform, Drs. Ross and Laura Pulver are able to monitor 130+ oral observations, remotely. So they know exactly when a patient needs an in-person appointment.
Why Our Patients Love DentalMonitoring
Your own virtual Accountability Parter through DM
As a parent you wonder if your child is actually going to wear their aligners. You wonder that even as an adult! Compliance is critical for aligner treatment to work. Aligners will not effectively move teeth if they are not being worn 22 hours a day. Patients have a built-in accountability partner with DentalMonitoring to keep on track with their aligners. With the use of AI technology, Drs. Ross and Laura Pulver get immediate feedback if aligners are fitting well (i.e. being worn).
Faster aligner treatment times with less appointments.
As you wear each set of aligners our team will get updates each week. The best part? It requires minimal lifestyle changes and fewer in-office visits. With our team of doctors and clinical staff, we will have the ability to track teeth movement as they occur in real-time rather than waiting to see what movement has occurred in the normally scheduled time of 6-12 weeks. This creates a more predictable treatment with fewer in office visits.
Faster braces treatment times with less appointments.
Just like with aligners, we will have the ability to track teeth movement as they occur in real-time rather than waiting to see what movement has occurred in the normally scheduled time of 6-12 weeks. We can check if your wire is ready to be switched, if you’ve been wearing your elastics and your bite is fixed, and if you’ve been brushing your teeth! This creates a more predictable treatment with fewer appointments.
How DentalMonitoring Works
STEP 1 — Download the DM App on your smartphone prior to your DentalMonitoring or Bonding Appointment. We will give you instructions on how to use the ScanBoxpro and help with your first scan at this appointment.
STEP 2 — Take photos of your smile from anywhere using your personalized DM App and the ScanBoxpro provided by North County Orthodontics complimentary as part of your orthodontic treatment.
STEP 2 — Photos are then automatically sorted, cropped, organized, and evaluated by AI. Drs. Ross and Laura Pulver, your board certified orthodontist in Paso Robles and Atascadero, will get notified that you’ve completed your scan and review your treatment to make sure it’s on track. This means that you will make less unnecessary trips to the office. You and your orthodontist can connect remotely through DM’s in-app messaging system without the hassle of booking an appointment!
STEP 3 — Drs. Ross and Laura Pulver will monitor your progress, predict the future movement of your teeth and will advise on further treatment recommendations. Over time, you can monitor the progress of your treatment with our photo time lapse technology that shows you how your teeth are moving towards your goal.
FAQs about DentalMonitoring
-
Once you receive the email and download the link, you will be prompted to take your first scan. This is essentially a practice scan, and you will get a NO-GO for moving forward to your next aligner if you are in the aligner protocol.
-
We typically ask you to scan weekly and you will be notified when it is time to take your next scan through the app. So leave those notifications on!
-
You will be reminded to take your next scan with another notification. Be sure to check in with your app or allow notifications so you can stay up to date on your next treatment steps.
-
Getting a “GO” means you can move on to your next aligners. Getting a “NO GO” means you should not move to your next aligner. You will receive follow up information with next steps. This typically means that you will be asked to stay in your current aligners for 3 additional days and then re-scan to check for improved fit of your aligners.

Yes! The ScanBoxpro allows us to monitor the progress of your treatment more accurately so we know when an appointment is actually needed rather than guessing and checking you anywhere from 6-12 weeks. We will schedule your next in office visit, but consider it a flexible visit that may be moved depending on the progress you make and we evaluate with DM.
-
Your in-office appointments will be scheduled when you checkout of your appointment, but they will be flexible appointments. They may be moved up or down depending on what we see in your weekly scans. Although you won't come in to the office as frequently, we are able to monitor you weekly using DentalMonitoring. Your progress will be reviewed by the doctors weekly when you scan. We will be monitoring your progress closer than ever!

We are so excited to offer Dental Monitoring free of charge for our patients! To be able to continue to do so, we are asking that the ScanBoxpro be returned at the end of your treatment.
